…does everything seem to need doing at least twice?
I can’t quite remember the last time I sent something away for repair to find the job done right first time. Actually, I can. It was my shoes, done by a wonderfully-eccentric cobbler in Charing Cross. But I digress.
Lately I wonder how much of our present “recession” is due to so many of us wasting time, money and energy on getting things done properly. It might mean that one person/organisation gets to stay in business for that one more job – but the one business I’m thinking of is about to have their work foisted back on them to put it right on their budget, not mine. Repeat business? Forget it.
It’s not like this is the first time it’s happened this way either. It’s costing a fortune in lost time, lost productivity and money. Not enough to justify replacement of the item in question, but certainly enough to have a significant impact. And it’s gutting to see and have to justify such waste.
